Juba – President Salva Kiir Mayardit has appointed Akuei Bona Malwal Madut as the new Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The announcement was made through a presidential decree broadcast on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) on Monday.

The appointment comes as part of ongoing efforts by the government to strengthen South Sudan’s diplomatic engagements and expand its international cooperation.

Mr. Malwal is expected to work closely with senior officials in advancing the country’s foreign policy agenda and promoting South Sudan’s interests abroad.

His appointment comes at a critical time, as South Sudan works to repair diplomatic ties with the United States following a standoff over deportation matters that has strained bilateral relations.

Details regarding the official swearing-in ceremony have not yet been disclosed. However, sources within the ministry indicated that preparations for his assumption of office will be revealed soon.

The government continues to restructure key ministries to enhance service delivery and align with national priorities.
